Public Programs Volunteer

SAF offers a variety of public programs throughout the year, including panels, exclusive building tours, and presentations to senior/retirement communities. Our volunteers support these events in a variety of ways. Learn more about what it means to volunteer for these programs below.

Senior Presentations

Share your love of architecture, design, and history by bringing these topics directly to senior communities.

  • Lead 45-minute presentations to various senior communities around the Seattle area. You may choose to learn a presentation we already have prepared, or author a new one!
  • Work with the SAF Program Manager to schedule a time jointly agreed upon by you and the hosting facility. These programs typically take place during the weekdays.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Experience speaking to groups
  • Ability to modulate volume and speed of speaking to accommodate audience
  • Interest or professional experience with topic, ability not only to present the topic confidently, but also field questions
  • Be reliable—our programs depend on volunteers to make them successful!

Event Support (Panels and Exclusive Tours)

Enjoy opportunities to connect with industry professionals and stay up to date with AEC trends while supporting SAF's mission.

Support the smooth execution of SAF programs by assisting with the following duties:

  • Signing in guests
  • Set-up and break-down of events
  • Support with food and beverages (may include serving alcohol)
