Queer Capitol Hill: A Historic Walking Tour
In partnership with Seattle LGTBQ+ Center, Michael Langberg and Lonnie Lursado
June 6 | 11AM – 1:30PM | Station House: 131 10th Ave E. | TICKETS
Architecture is more than just design details; it’s about the stories of people and communities who inhabit the built environment. SAF invites you to celebrate Pride Month with a walking tour of Queer Capitol Hill! On this tour, you’ll visit the places and spaces that have welcomed queer Seattleites for decades and learn how our city’s queer history overlaps with other movements for social equity, such as the Civil Rights and Women’s Rights Movements.
Meet your tour guides
Michael Langberg (he/they): Michael is the Museum Manager at the Holocaust Center for Humanity. He developed Queer Capitol Hill: A Historic Walking Tour for Historic Seattle as his UW Museology Master’s Thesis Project. Michael explores history through a queer lens to reveal the stories and legacies of queer communities that continue to shape our shared experiences.
Lonnie Lusardo: Lonnie is Founder and Principal Consultant of The Diversity Collaborative, a veteran-owned business specializing in diversity and inclusion training. Deeply committed to social justice, he was a Seattle reporter during the 1980s AIDS epidemic, where he witnessed, first-hand, the disastrous effects of anti-queer policies on communities. He is currently a member of the Seattle AIDS Memorial Pathway Community Action Group.
SAF offers no-questions-asked scholarships for our programs thanks to 4Culture’s Public Free Access grant. If tour tickets are outside your budget right now, please email us at info@seattlearchitecture.org to inquire about reduced-cost access.
