Whether we’re inspiring potential future architects to develop solutions to social issues or educating the general public on critical community development topics, SAF is fostering a deeper understanding of how design impacts our lives.

More than 6,000 people a year participate in SAF programs, and your gift will help us to:

INSPIRE YOUTH: SAF engages more than 500 youth each year in innovative programs for children, teens and tweens on weekends and in school settings. Model building workshops and other programs go beyond simply creating structures and drawings. SAF provides a historical perspective on architecture and design topics and challenges youth to envision their ideal built environment through use of current technologies and renewable systems and materials.

EDUCATE THE PUBLIC: Through entertaining walking tours that take locals and visitors through Seattle’s downtown core and through our great neighborhoods, SAF covers ground like no other organization in Seattle. In addition, our Design in Depth Series invites the public to engage in panel discussions around topics that pertain to the built environment.

ENGAGE OUR COMMUNITY: For the past 16 years, Seattle’s architecture and design community comes together to exhibit a diverse selection of physical and digital architectural models at our annual model exhibit. In addition to making these models accessible to the general public, SAF offers free programming and social events to engage a variety of audiences in developing a deeper understanding the role that architecture and design plays in shaping our communities.
