Millionaire’s Row: Seattle’s Exceptional Parkway

Walk the tree-lined boulevard of “Millionaire’s Row,” a stretch of 14th Avenue East where Seattle’s early wealth built some of the city’s finest homes and mansions. You’ll see grand residences from the early 1900s that remain largely unchanged, several bearing official Seattle Landmark designation, along with a look at how renovations have been done to stay true to the street’s early aesthetic. The street itself reflects two visions: developer James Moore platted it as a neighborhood of distinction for the elite, while the Olmsted Brothers shaped it into a grand entrance to Volunteer Park. Officially still known as “Volunteer Parkway” and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this street remains part of Seattle’s park system to this day.

Starts: Near Volunteer Park Watertower at the intersection of 14th Ave E and E Prospect

Ends: 14th Ave E and E Roy St.
