SAF Announces Move with DCI Engineers
Seattle Architecture Foundation Offices Relocating to 1700 7th Avenue
Will sublease space in DCI Engineers New Offices
On October 1st, the Seattle Architecture Foundation will relocate to the 1700 7th Avenue building. It will sublease part of the DCI Engineers offices. DCI moved into the newly upfitted space on September 2nd. The Foundation’s move was precipitated by the closing of the Center for Architecture and Design (CfAD), a space it shared with the American Institute of Architects, Seattle and Washingtion State Chapters, since 2016. With the advent of hybrid work practices and changing needs for exhibit space, CfAD partners determined that the shared space on Western Avenue no longer met the diverse needs of their organizations and audiences after nearly a decade of fulfilling collaborations.
The selected location was the result of a Request for Proposals (RFP) process. The Foundation sought a central location that would allow it to maintain its strong connections among AEC industry partners and community organizations, as well as access to conference rooms and available internet and other amenities. DCI’s proposal met all the needs of the Foundation and more.
Foundation Board of Directors President Pamela Trevithick, Partner with LMN, said, “We are thrilled with the result of the RFP process; the new space will be a fantastic home for staff and will offer welcoming areas for Board meetings as well as informal gatherings.”
DCI Vice President and Foundation Board Vice President, Grant Buckingham, commented, “We are excited to have the Foundation staff in our offices. The DCI and Foundation staffs will both benefit from the co-location.” Read DCI’s announcement here.
The Seattle Architecture Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to educating the public about the value of architecture and the history of the city by providing tours, workshops, lectures, and exhibits. The new office location will serve as administrative headquarters for the Foundation, allowing it to develop community programs that reach broad audiences throughout Seattle.
