Shifting Tides at Seattle's Front Door
Experts engage in a "what if" scenario of the central waterfront once the Alaskan Way Viaduct is replaced and the challenges and
opportunities for redevelopment along the way. Walk and talk with experts as they examine the past, present and future of Seattle's Sea Wall
including a description of the State, County and City's efforts, a detailed description of the challenges and opportunities along the waterfront, and the proposed framework for its future redevelopment.
Lead guide Cristina Bump, architectural designer at Mithun, is the recipient of the AIA Emerging Professionals Travel Scholarship; her research includes seawalls in Sydney, Melbourne and Vancouver, and the impact alternative approaches can have on urban development and natural habitat.
